Our Story

Ubuntu Security was established in December 1995 and have since earned a reputation as trusted service provider in the professional security industry.

While our Head Office is located in Olifantsfontein, Midrand, our security service operates in Pretoria, Centurion and Midrand,

Ubuntu is a proudly South African company established without any foreign investment capital.

Our business is built on the principles of the African philosophy of UBUNTU.

As a company we believe in democracy and free enterprise and support the value of life, the right to ownership of property and a well functioning society.

UBUNTU is a timeless African philosophy of 'Oneness' –  an understanding of the inter-connectedness of all life.  It is the essence of being human - love, truth, peace, happiness, optimism, the divine spark of goodness that is within each human being.  How one interacts with other people, nature, or The Creator.

Ubuntu is wonderfully described in a Xhosa proverb meaning, “I am because we are” or “a person is a person because of other people” - a way of life through which one can realise the meaning of human relationships.

I consciously embrace UBUNTU in the way I live.

To me it means being optimistic, courageous, self-confident and even-minded in all circumstances. Personally it has made me humble in my approach to all things.

I have been fortunate to be able to spread this message through THE UBUNTU GROUP.

Ubuntu is that thing that makes us whole and complete.

Every organisation has a set of values that they abide by.

I think it is generally human nature to do the best for oneself and one's organisation. But, true character is doing what you would do for yourself to others as well.  The value system, Ubuntu, bring us back to a place of relying on each other and focussing on our ‘oneness’.

The key social values of UBUNTU can be explained with the FIVE FINGER THEORY.

One finger cannot crush a grain of wheat on its own; it needs the help of the other four fingers.

These five fingers are survival, solidarity, compassion, respect, and dignity.

RESPECT - In general respect refers to having regard for someone's feelings, wishes, values, beliefs, property or rights.  Respect is a way of treating or thinking about something or someone else, regardless of their position or whether they are known or not – it is a state of mind.

DIGNITY - Closely related to respect is dignity. Treating other people with dignity means treating them the way we'd like to be treated ourselves. Dignity is one of the most important things to the human spirit. It means being valued for what you are, what you believe in, and how you live your live.

SOLIDARITY - South Africans view life, love and caring in a pluralist way. Our love for each other means that you do not search for good only for yourself but also for those around you. The members of your community. This love is called “Agape”. Agape is love that develops from the need to help others and be helped by others.

COMPASSION - Compassion is a human quality of understanding others’ dilemmas and wanting to help them. Reaching out to each other.  Compassion literally means “to suffer together". It is defined as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another's suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering.

SURVIVAL - At the heart of UBUNTU is survival. Survival can be described as the ability to live and exist in spite of difficulties. In South Africa, people survive through community and “brotherly” care and not individual self- reliance.  Together we persist until we succeed.

Our Commitment to YOU

At UBUNTU SECURITY our commitment to you is to always follow these five principles: RESPECT, DIGNITY, SOLIDARITY, COMPASSION AND SURVIVAL.

We will strive to treat all people with respect, dignity and compassion.  We will stand in solidarity with our fellow South Africans and we are committed to ensuring your safety and survival to the best of our ability.

We want to be more than just a security company to you.

Our company was founded on these principles.

On caring about the well-being and safety of each other.

On the vision of what can be achieved when society realises that we are all connected and part of a whole.

We are dedicated to your safety and peace of mind.
